SCENIC EAST Full of Culture and History Discover wonderful seaside, lagoons, Marine Park, harbor, museum, market places, history, culture and many more in only one outing. Pick up at your hotel or accommodation at 8.00am in private car towards mahebourg through the magnificent coastline. Make a boat trip to Ile aux Aigrettes, the unique natural reserve of Mauritius where you can see untouched wildlife thriving in their natural habitat. Head towards the naval museum, housed in a colonial building. Then we will move to the city of Mahebourg, the once capital of Mauritius. Mahebourg is full of colour, history, wonderful people and nature. It is also the best place to be known about the past of the island. Just imagine a naval battle between the English and French navy for the control of Mauritius. Now its time for the Marine Park of Blue Bay, one of the best and very unique corals to be found in the world. Enjoy a glass bottom rise to capture the memorable marine garden and colourful fishes in the lagoon and feel free to so some snorkeling so as to be even closer to the sceneries. Blue Bay is also very good for swimming in the golden sandy beach. Afterwards we will move to another museum to discover the Dutch roots of Mauritius, its first harbour settlements amd not to forget the dodo bird. Amazing that Mauritius can be so small but yet big in historical fact. After the museum, we will continue our journey to “Point du Diable”, another historical sight where canons and ammunitions were kept during the French period to counter any attacks from the English. Let’s now drive to Flacq through the coastal road bounded by mountains. The drive in itself is a wonderful trip as you get to go through small fishing and agricultural villages. Keep your camera ready and rolling. This is an excellent trip to learn about Mauritius history and culture with exceptional boat trips to nearby island.
